B&W Marbella Dress + Giveaway
Hello lovely people,
I hope all is well with each and everyone of you, if not don't worry- things will look up soon. It has been a while since I've posted because I've been so busy (Don't I say this in every post?) I recently took on a big task of being the main sewist for an up an coming clothing line here in Trinidad and I have a couple other sewing jobs and school activities to balance. Nevertheless I am glad that I got to do a little something for myself and for you guys this week. It's called the Marbella Dress and it's from the newest independent digital pattern designer Kennis from Itch to Stitch.
I absolutely love this dress and it is very much my style and the style my husband loves. It's a classy and elegant sort of dress pattern and there are quite a bit of options depending on the types of fabric used to make it. A boat neck and tulip skirt are always a hit. My version looks most fitting for work wear in the black and white cotton woven fabric that I used. I just love when a dress sits on the true waist and this dress did that for me without any adjustments there for my tall frame.
The details:
I stitched my dress up completely in Size 2 with the A cup pieces
I inverted my tucks to pleats by just reversing the folds
I removed a 1/2 inch of fabric off the center seam neckline
I did not line the skirt of my dress because the fabric was thick so I added interfacing to the hem line to give it a nice shape.
So, to one lucky reader I will be giving away a PDF copy of the Itch to Stitch Marbella dress pattern for you to make your very own personalised version. All you have to do is comment on this post below and let me know what fabric you might use to make a unique and outstanding version of this dress :) I will let it run till December 6th.
Thanks to my photographer, hubby and thanks for stopping by guys, God bless!

I really like your idea of pleats instead of tucks! I'd probably use a cotton fabric with big and pretty flowers. Cause, yay flowers!
ReplyDeleteFlowers definitely sounds likea a great option :)
DeleteThis dress is so lovely! I love your fabric choice and the inverted pleats. I might use a cotton lawn (from Liberty London) that has constellations printed all over it. It's a classy print fabric to go with a classy dress pattern!

Thanks Caitlin. Liberty prints are quite lovely.
DeleteI love your dress!!! I would make it in a bright wool crepe color. -charlene
ReplyDeleteThanks Charlene. That fabric choice sounds good!
DeleteOh, this is lovely! I hadn't come across this pattern company before, so thank you for letting us know about it. The differing cup sizes and single-size printing are great innovations. I think the elegance and simplicity of this design would pair beautifully with a brocade, perhaps one with a metallic thread running through it. Although I could see an "everyday" version in a ponte knit too...
ReplyDeleteHi Danielle. Itch to stitch is very new and hopefully we will see more wonderful patterns soon. This would be lovely in Brocade.....nice!
DeleteGlad that you are back with another beautiful creation. This dress is so pretty and classic! Your fabric choice is great and this style suit you perfectly :) I love it but please don't count me in the giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend and happy sewing :)
Thank you Hana! :) no problem
DeleteVery nice. Love the fabric.
ReplyDeleteLovely dress, very elegant. I have quite a stash of fabric and must use it up. I have a red cotton sateen with a cream Chinese lantern print. Maybe use that in combination with some black colour blocking?
ReplyDeleteThanks Sylvie, stash busting is always a good idea!
