The lace tee

I'm slowly but surely becoming a copycat expert! I see many things in the stores and online that I simply adore. I  love that the fashion wheel is constantly spinning and that new ideas form as designers seek to be original.

ASOS is one of my favorite online stores. I however don't buy the clothes anymore because now I'm miles away in the Caribbean. Distance is no excuse these days though because international shipping is quite efficient; however the charges are no fun. I was browsing as usual and I came across this lovely lace tee; I really like it! (love is sometimes too strong a word for clothing)...lol
ASOS lace jersey
So this is my version of this lovely tee. I went to the stores and found a section of really soft and very stretchy lace. It feels really luxurious. I took the blue because I found the ideal colour cotton jersey to line it with and it was the most lively colour of the bunch. This colour looks much like Pantone's Spring 2013 Monaco Blue; very trendy!

I cut simple front and back pieces corresponding to my shoulder width and my bust size. I then used a sleeve pattern I drafted for myself using tutorials from Leena to create the sleeves. I find the instructions very straight forward and the results beautiful. Check it out here---- basic sleeve drafting
I did the neckline with a strip of the lace fabric edges folded together and stitched at the bodice neckline edges. The sleeve ends were finished with a lace and lined strip of fabric to create a nice cuff.

I hope you enjoyed it! Don't you just love the necklace too :), God bless
