My Hi-Low skirt

Hello everyone, it has been so long since I've posted. Should I list the many things that I've been up to? I won't, but I have been sewing. I did 4 bridesmaids dresses recently and they were quite a challenge. They were my first set of bridesmaids dresses and the design was not simple. Hopefully I will do a post on them soon if I get some lovely pics.  Currently I am making a shirt for my husband and I have a few items to make for other family members. A work dress for my aunt, a work dress for my mother, a pencil skirt and a peplum top for my sister........and the list goes on.

I was lucky enough to be able to whip up something for myself recently. I absolutely love the hi-low skirts and dresses. This is my first one even though the style has been trending for some years now. I got a lovely satin chiffon at one of my favorite local fabric shops. The price was really good as well so I bought 2 yards. The fabric moves and flows quite nicely so it was ideal for one of these skirts.

The skirt is fully self drafted. I made the waistband out of black elastic because I wanted a nice firm hold without a fastener. I did a nice fine hem by first folding under about 1/4 inch of the hem stitching it close to the edge. Next I trimmed the excess then folded the edge under again and stitched it. The right side shows one line of stitching and the wrong side shows two.  It is lined with a black mini skirt on the inside so no flashing here!

I go to wear the skirt to head out with hubby to an Italian restaurant here in Trinidad. It was my first time at Buzo and I will definitely go again.........yummmmmmmmmmmm, I LOVE ITALIAN <3

Thanks for reading, God bless!
